Nurse caught by paedophile hunter group sentenced

|News, Sexual offences

A nurse working at Morriston Hospital has been sentenced for sexual offences after contacting a child decoy account set up by a paedophile hunter group.

Phillip Hill, 54, began communicating with the account of a 13-year-old girl before sending indecent images of himself and asking the girl to send similar images back to him.

The paedophile hunter group alerted police to the activity who arrested Hill as he left work.

Alex Scott of the CPS said: “Phillip Hill instigated and engaged in sexually explicit conversations with someone he thought was a teenage girl.

“It is fortunate that there was no child at risk in this instance, but that is not always the case, and it is a stark reminder of the dangers that children can face on social media.

“The CPS continues to work closely with the Police in bringing online predators to justice whenever the legal test is met.”

Phillip Hill was sentenced at Swansea Crown Court on 1 June 2023 to a total of two years and three months’ imprisonment and ordered to register as a sex offender for ten years.
