Let's Talk: CPS Webinars
Talking about race and racism is not easy, but as long as you are comfortable, the Crown Prosecution Service would like to have that conversation with you.
The CPS is accountable to the whole of society and all the diverse communities we serve. So we need to understand and engage with all our local communities, understand how they engage with us and the criminal justice system we are part of, and explore the specific challenges they face.
In particular we need to appreciate the reach and impact of racism, prejudice and discrimination and how we need to adapt to combat them. We need your help to do this.
Gerry Wareham, Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS Yorkshire & Humberside is inviting members of our Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities to have a conversation about race and racism by attending one of three online webinar sessions scheduled on 8th, 9th, and 10th September.
He said: “We would like to focus the sessions on how recent events have impacted you, your family and your community in terms of how you view the Criminal Justice System and more specifically the Crown Prosecution Service. How are we doing? Are we are getting it right? And if not, what more we can do? We genuinely want to hear your views, including any concerns and respond to them as best we can. We will also ensure that your insights feed into our on-going COVID-19 recovery planning and build our understanding of where we need to focus our attention to increase public confidence.”
You can register for one of these online sessions via Eventbrite by clicking on the following links:
