HMCPSI Chief Inspector Visits CPS London South
CCP Lionel Idan hosted a visit by HMCPSi Chief Inspector, Andrew Cayley CMG KC, to CPS London South at our offices in Petty France where he met with the Senior Leadership Team and held focus group discussions with staff across the grades.
During the visit, the Chief Inspector heard about the challenges the Area continued to face, as well as the strong partnership working with key stakeholders and partners, to overcome these and improve the quality and delivery of justice across the Area.
The staff focus group discussions provided an opportunity for the Chief Inspector to explore some of the root causes of the ongoing criminal justice challenges and the solutions and actions being taken to tackle these.
The Chief Inspector also heard about some of the successful prosecutions across the Area, as well as progress under Operation Soteria - the joint CPS and MPS initiative to improve rape investigations and prosecutions - and best practice from the Area which had helped shape the recently launched RASSO National Operating Model.
A floor-walk across the various Units provided the Chief Inspector with an opportunity to say a personal thank you to staff in person for their hard work, dedication and commitment to delivering justice in very challenging circumstances.
Of the visit, Lionel said, ‘It was a pleasure to welcome the Chief Inspector to the Area and to showcase some of the exceptional talent, hard work and successful outcomes collectively achieved by CPS London South. It was also an opportunity to share insights into some of the challenges faced by the Area, and to explore innovative ideas and some of our ongoing actions to improve the quality of our casework. I am very grateful to the Chief Inspector for his thanks and words of encouragement to our staff and look forward to welcoming him back for a future visit’.
