Queen’s Birthday Honours: CPS staff recognised for services to law and order
Four current and former CPS employees have been recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours for services to law and order.
Deborah Rogers CBE
Lately Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor, Crown Prosecution Service, Cymru-Wales. For services to Law and Order.
As the Area’s Violence Against Women Champion, Deborah worked with the police and Health Board to develop a Sexual Assault Referral Centre ensuring that in addition to meeting the health needs of victims, the needs of criminal justice were also met.
Deborah led the successful implementation of initiatives to support victims and witnesses and improve public confidence across Wales, including the implementation of special measures and the victim personal statement scheme. Deborah has personally been responsible for complex high-profile cases and has consistently exemplified professionalism and skill in the management of these cases, championing the needs of victims and witnesses.
Russell Tyner OBE
Specialist Prosecutor, International Justice and Organised Crime Division, Crown Prosecution Service. For services to Law and Order
Russell has been a pioneer in the prosecution of cyber-crime in the UK. He has delivered criminal justice excellence as well as safeguarding the UK public from some of the highest harm, highest impact threats facing society. His contributions have made a major impact both on our prosecutions and on the work of global law enforcement. Russell represents the CPS on cyber matters both nationally and internationally which has allowed the delivery of criminal justice across jurisdictional boundaries and resulted in high profile action across the globe.
Lissa Matthews MBE
Lately Principal Private Secretary and Head of Private Office, Crown Prosecution Service. For services to Law and Order
Lissa was pivotal in allowing CPS structure and governance to grow to a much improved state and supported the DPP through the challenge of COVID-19 and demanding period of recovery. Lissa led Private Office and supported the DPP and CEO throughout this difficult time. She ensured the CPS business continuity Gold Command worked effectively to support cross CJS structures operating in the pandemic.
Dawn Nanton MBE
Operational Business Manager, Crown Prosecution Service, London. For services to Law and Order
Dawn was the first member of CPS staff to return physically to any court in the capital during the COVID-19 pandemic. She took on an extraordinary amount of work so those she manages could continue to work remotely. She played a pivotal role in ensuring safe restart of the first Crown Court trial in the country following the onset of the pandemic. It paved the way for the restarting of serious Crown Court trials across the country. This selflessness and desire to support others can be seen throughout Dawn’s career and makes her a critical and highly respected colleague, taking on challenges and additional duties without hesitation.
