Police officer found guilty of outraging public decency

|News, Sexual offences

A police officer was found guilty of outraging public decency at Stratford Magistrates’ Court on 22 June.

Dariusz Alexander, 49, who was a detective constable attached to the Roads and Transport Policing Command, was sentenced to a six-month Conditional Discharge, plus £625 costs and a £26 victim surcharge.

On 18 March, two police officers were carrying duties in a park in Hampstead.

During the search in the area, one of the officers noticed Alexander exposing himself.

Alexander was off duty that day. He was arrested and was suspended from duty with immediate effect and charged in April.

District Crown Prosecutor for CPS London North, Peter Alexandrou, said: “Alexander exposed himself to an off-duty police officer. His actions caused distress to the victim and there was a high risk that members of the public could have seen him.

“Everyone has the right to use London’s public spaces and parks without risk of encountering anti-social behaviour. Feeling safe should not be a luxury for the public.

“The CPS is determined to work with law enforcement agencies to combat all types of sexual harassment and seek justice for victims."
