A violent drug user from Spalding in Lincolnshire has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder and attempted murder of two acquaintances in December 2021.

A woman from Jacksdale in north Nottinghamshire has been jailed for 15 years for the manslaughter of a child in her care.

Leila Borrington assaulted Harvey Borrington, her partner’s son, whilst she was looking after him and his siblings while their father was at work in August 2021. Harvey Borrington was found by emergency services unconscious and unresponsive and later died at King’s Mill Hospital from severe head injuries.

Senior Crown Prosecutor Daniel Lee, from CPS Yorkshire and Humberside’s Complex Casework Unit, said: "Somaiya Begum was a young woman who had her whole life ahead her. Her murder is a tragedy and Khan now faces the consequences for his appalling crimes.

“Working closely with West Yorkshire Police, we were able to present clear and compelling evidence that he was responsible for her death.

“Our thoughts remain with the loved ones of Somaiya Begum. I hope this conviction and sentence brings them some form of justice.

Three men have been jailed today (24 February 2023) at Winchester Crown Court for the murder of 30-year-old Frantisek Olah.

Je’Daine Carty, 18, Ismaila Kamarra-Jarra, 19 and Cohan Daley, 18, were found guilty of murder after a trial lasting 10 weeks.

At today's hearing Ismaila Kamarra-Jarra was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 32 years. A sentence of life imprisonment was also given to both Je'Daine Carty and Cohan Daley, with both required to serve a minimum term of 29 years.

A man has been jailed for a total of 10 years and five months after pleading guilty to an aggravated burglary at actress Stephanie Beacham’s home, as well as a separate burglary in Sheffield.

David Wilson, 57 broke into Ms Beacham’s home in Bayswater on September 25th last year and forced the 75-year-old actress to hand over money and jewellery.

Southwark Crown Court heard how the Dynasty star no longer feels safe in her home and has trouble learning her lines after being threatened with a jemmy – a bar with a claw at the end.
