A man has been convicted of the rape of a complete stranger he met in Hastings town centre on a night out.

Matthew Taylor, 31, lured his victim away from a busy pub to the beach before attacking her in February 2023. Despite making it clear that she did not want to have sex with him, he pinned her down and raped her.

She eventually managed to get away and immediately reported what had happened to the police.

Former Met officers jailed for conspiracy to share child sexual images

Two retired Met police officers have been jailed for conspiracy to distribute and show child sexual abuse images.

Jeremy Laxton, 62, and Jack Addis, 63 have been sentenced for distributing or showing indecent images of children to each other between January 2018 and July 2021.

Addis and Laxton worked together during their careers in the Met police and had become friends.
