Members of an armed gang which kidnapped and brutally tortured a man for 27 hours have been imprisoned for between 25 and six years.

At a flat in Cardiff the victim was waterboarded, beaten and forced to ask friends to provide a £50,000 ransom, while being threatened with guns and knives. 

He was taken to another stronghold in Hertfordshire where the horrifying ordeal continued. He was eventually rescued by armed police. 

A man who shouted antisemitic abuse at an orthodox Jewish man in Stamford Hill this week has been prosecuted for a hate crime.

Lee Ryan, 40 from the band ‘Blue’ has been sentenced to a suspended term of imprisonment after displaying inappropriate behaviour towards a member of aeroplane cabin crew mid-flight.

On 31 July 2022, Ryan targeted a member of the cabin crew with inappropriate behaviour and racist comments. This included grabbing the victim by their wrists and stroking their arm, causing them distress, and using racist terms for the victim.

A man has been sentenced to 17 years for manslaughter after his ex-partner fell from a top floor flat.

Leonidas Georgalla, 51, has been sentenced to 17 years' imprisonment after his former partner fell from a top floor flat. He had previously admitted to breaching the restraining order on the day that Kathleen John fell three floors from a window.

Upon returning home in the early hours of Friday 29 June 2022, friends and family of the pair saw Georgalla standing in front of the flat claiming that Kathleen had fallen from a window.
