Army officer who sent explicit images to women is sentenced

An army officer who used fake social media accounts to send explicit images to women serving on a military base in Aldershot has been sentenced.

Glen Easterbrook, 38, repeatedly sent inappropriate sexual messages, voice notes, photos and videos under a pseudonym on Facebook and Snapchat to two women.

Following a trial at Aldershot magistrates’ court, Easterbrook was found guilty on two counts of sending indecent messages between September 2022 and November 2022.

Despite Easterbrook’s claims that his communications were encouraged and reciprocated by the victims, prosecutors from CPS Wessex presented phone data evidence to prove his conduct was non-consensual and that the images he sent were indecent by nature.

On 27 February 2024, Easterbrook was sentenced at Basingstoke magistrates’ court to a 12-month Community Order and ordered to complete 80 hours of unpaid work.

Carly Loftus, District Crown Prosecutor with CPS Wessex said: “Glen Easterbrook used fake social media accounts in an attempt to coerce his victims into sending explicit images for his own gratification, whilst hiding his true identity.

“Everyone deserves to feel safe in their community and Easterbrook’s behaviour threatened that for his victims.

“The CPS worked closely with Hampshire Police to recover the account details from the fake accounts, which led to the identification of Easterbrook as the perpetrator. We were able to use this evidence alongside the victims’ compelling testimonies to prove that Easterbrook’s actions were unwanted and exploitative.

“I strongly encourage anyone who has been sent unsolicited images of a sexual nature to report it to the police.”
