Jailed: Predatory sex offender who smirked as he sexually assaulted young women
Robert Emmerson, 40, was sentenced today at Manchester Crown Court to four years and six months in prison. He was also made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order for life.
The facts of the offences can be found in the CPS North West press release on conviction.
Alex Mann, Senior Crown Prosecutor for CPS North West, said: “Robert Emmerson targeted women and girls as young as 13 in a secluded Manchester underpass in broad daylight. He gave no thought to the impact his actions would have on the young women he attacked.
“The Crown Prosecution Service worked with Greater Manchester Police to build the case against Emmerson – including using bad character evidence from previous similar offences – to bring a prosecution which has ultimately put him behind bars.
“Today’s sentence should send a clear message that we will prosecute those who prey on women and girls to the fullest extent of the law – and I would urge anyone who has been a victim of sexual violence to come forward and report it to the police.”
