Performance management and case outcomes

These pages provide information on how well the CPS has performed across a range of key areas of responsibility. You will also find information on the outcomes of criminal cases nationally and locally, across a range of crime types.

CPS Quarterly Data Summaries

From January 2020, the CPS has published quarterly bulletins of data tables and summaries of main trends as part of the CPS’s ongoing commitment to transparency on prosecution performance. The bulletins contain performance information relating to overall prosecution figures and police referrals as well as charging rates in a range of offence types including domestic abuse, rape flagged offences, hate crime and child sexual abuse.

This data is operational management information to be used as indicators of CPS’ performance. Official statistics relating to crime and policing are maintained by the Home Office and Office for National Statistics. Official statistics relating to criminal courts including caseload, timeliness, convictions and sentencing outcomes are maintained by the Ministry of Justice.
