Prosecution cases referred by National Crime Agency 2022-2023
Request
With reference to a FOI request in this chain (10114), I would like to repeat the same FOI, but to include updated figures for 2022/23.
To clarify, this would be the following two questions (repeated from the previous 10114 which has previously been granted)
- Number of cases the CPS has received per year from NCA relating to economic crime offences (in 2022/23)
- Number of these cases successfully concluded i.e. a prosecution has been secured (in 2022/23)
- Number of cases that have been discontinued by the CPS. (in 2022/23)

You have requested figures for 2022/23. As your previous request included figures up to 2020-2021 we have provided figures below for 2021-2022 and 2022-202
Number of cases the CPS has received per year from NCA relating to economic crime offences. The table below shows the number of cases the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has received per year from the Nation Crime Agency (NCA) relating to economic crime offences.

Due to the low numbers of cases, it has been appropriate to anonymise some of the data within the table under section 40(2) of the FOIA - personal information. Please see the attached Section 17 Notice for more information.
The data above is from the CPS Management Information System (MIS) and been subject to manual review of data sourced from the CPS Case Management System (CMS), therefore the following caveats apply:
- CPS data is available through its CMS and associated (MIS. The CPS collects data to assist in the effective management of its prosecution functions. The CPS does not collect data that constitutes official statistics as defined in the Statistics and Registration Service Act 2007.
- These data have been drawn from the CPS’s administrative IT system, which (as with any large-scale recording system) is subject to possible errors with data entry and processing.
- The official statistics relating to crime and policing are maintained by the Home Office (HO) and the official statistics relating to sentencing, criminal court proceedings, offenders brought to justice, the courts and the judiciary are maintained by the Ministry of Justice (MOJ).
