Wellingborough boxer jailed for life for murder of Kamil Leszczynski after body found in Bedfordshire
A boxer from Wellingborough has been handed a life sentence in prison after being convicted of murder. He must serve a minimum term of 23 years.
Lukasz Stachura, 40, was sentenced today at Luton Crown Court. In April 2022, a jury found him guilty of murdering 33-year-old Kamil Leszczynski.
Mr Lesczynski’s body was found in a ditch in Bedfordshire on 1 July 2021, his wrists bound and a gag in his mouth. The Crown Prosecution Service presented forensic evidence that linked Stachura to the gag and Mr Leszczynski’s clothing, as well as cell site evidence that placed him within mere metres of the ditch on 27 June 2021, the date Mr Lesczynski had disappeared.
CPS lawyer Mary Clouston said: “Kamil Leszczynski was known as a quiet man, and posed no threat to his murderer. Lukasz Stachura killed him and made every effort to dispose of the evidence.
“Stachura tried to deny his actions, and even claimed not to know the victim at all. However, the strength of the evidence put before the court meant the jury could be sure he was guilty.
"My thoughts go out to the victim’s family; I can only imagine the heart-breaking loss they have suffered. I hope the verdict and today’s sentence brings them a sense of justice.”
