Man sentenced for smuggling drugs into prison hidden in his underwear
A man has been sentenced at Mold Crown Court today for smuggling drugs into HMP Berwyn in his underwear.
Anthony Farrell, 55, was visiting the prison on 5 May 2024 and had hidden the drugs in his boxer shorts.
A drugs detection dog indicated the item during the routine search carried out on people entering the prison.
Farrell was hiding a clingfilm wrap containing heroin, crack cocaine, ketamine and cannabis.
Andrew Slight, of the CPS, said: "Taking drugs or other banned items into a prison is a serious offence.
"The CPS will continue to work with our partners in the criminal justice system to bring those trying to conduct this illegal activity to justice."
Anthony Farrell was sentenced to 21 months’ imprisonment on 7 February 2025.
