A man has been found guilty of stabbing to death a man in a town centre fight and causing serious knife injuries to a 17-year-old boy.

Liam O’Pray, 22, from Swinton, Salford, denied murdering Rico Burton, 31, in Altrincham town centre last year. 

However, a jury found him guilty of both counts following a 18-day trial at Manchester Crown Court.

The incident occurred around 3am on 21 August 2022. Mr Burton was out with family and friends in Goose Green, a small courtyard in Altrincham with various bars. 

Five people have been jailed for more than 125 years in total after they were convicted of the murder of a man who was fatally stabbed as he left a Coventry mosque in October last year.

Adam Razaaq, 21, of Long Lane, Halesowen, and Jenaid Mahmood, 19, of Markby Road, Birmingham, were today sentenced to life imprisonment at Warwick Crown Court for the murder of Haji Choudhary Rab Nawaz and the attempted murder of his brother.

Four men have been jailed (14 July 2023) at Winchester Crown Court for brutally attacking Frazer Brabant in October 2019, who died three months later from his horrific injuries.

A 38-year-old woman has been found guilty of murdering her five-year-old son at their home in Oldham in 2021.

At 6.15 pm on New Year's Eve 2021, Claire Scanlon left her house on Elm Road in Oldham, ran to her uncle's house opposite and told them that her son, Dylan, was not breathing or moving.

Members of her family went over to her house and found Dylan lifeless in a double bed in the main bedroom of the house with numerous bruises on his face and body.

A care worker from Chesterfield has been sentenced to nine months imprisonment for ill-treating residents in a care home.

Sharlene Bosita was captured on CCTV, in the Chesterfield care home where she worked, in nearly 40 incidents of cruelty and violence towards three residents. Acts included throwing water at victims, making it look like she was about to elbow them, slapping them with gloves and pushing and pulling them about. All three residents were in their 80s and had dementia, which left them confused, frail and vulnerable.
