A bakery worker from Riddings, near Alfreton in Derbyshire has been jailed for life for the murder of his partner on their first anniversary.

Kain Taliby, 31, assaulted and killed Chrissie Everett-Hickson in their home after a night out. The couple argued and, during the row, Tailby grabbed Chrissie by the neck and struck her head on the floor several times. He then tried to clean up any sign that he had attacked or injured her. Chrissie died in hospital from head injuries sustained in the attack.

A woman from Gloucestershire has been convicted of manslaughter in relation to the death of a baby.

In April 2020, shortly after the start of the Covid 19 lockdown, Melissa Wilband, 28, was living with her two young children, a two-year-old boy and five-month-old baby Lexi. 

On the night of 12 April paramedics were called to the house, where Lexi was found showing signs consistent with trauma. She was taken to Gloucester Royal Hospital, before being transferred to the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at Bristol Children’s Hospital.

A man has been found guilty today of murdering and dismembering a man who he lived with, following a trial at Manchester Crown Court.

Marcin Majerkiewicz, 42, killed Stuart Everett, 67, before dismembering his body and depositing his remains in different locations across Greater Manchester and Salford over the course of a week in an attempt to conceal his crime.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and Northamptonshire Police have issued a joint statement regarding the investigation into the death of Harshita Brella in November 2024.

Samantha Shallow from the Crown Prosecution Service said: “The Crown Prosecution Service has reviewed a file of evidence submitted by the Northamptonshire Police, and has authorised a charge of murder against 23-year-old Pankaj Lamba in relation to Harshita Brella’s death.

UPDATE (24 March 2025): The CPS has authorised another person to be charged with an offence in connection with this case.

Sai Raj Manne (DOB: 04/04/2000), of no fixed abode, has been charged with the offence of participating in the activities of an organised crime group.

Manne appeared at Cardiff MC on 21 March 2025 and was remanded in custody to appear at Cardiff Crown Court on 22 April 2025.
