A man who claimed to be part of the proscribed organisation the Wagner Group has been jailed for two and a half years.

A CPS spokesperson said: “Following a review of the evidence provided by Kent Police, we have authorised a charge against Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, 41, of failing to provide the PIN to his mobile phone under Schedule 7 of the Terrorism Act 2000.

“The charge follows Mr Yaxley-Lennon’s arrest in Folkestone on Sunday, 28 July, 2024.

“The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against the defendant are active and that he has the right to a fair trial.

A man has been sentenced for sending money to his nephew who was fighting for a proscribed terrorist organisation in Syria.

Farhad Mohammad, 46, made payments through a middleman intended for his nephew, who at the time in 2017 was an Islamist fighter actively involved in terrorism.

Mohammad was arrested by counter terrorism police on an outbound journey from Stansted Airport to Turkey on 28 February 2018 in possession of three mobile phones.

A man who operated two websites that spread far-right propaganda and encouraged terrorism has been jailed.

Colin McNeil, 46, ran the online sites which featured racist documents, images and videos glorifying Hitler, the Nazis and prominent Neo-Nazis.

The websites also honoured men who committed racist mass killings, including Brenton Tarrant, who murdered 51 people in and around two mosques in Christchurch New Zealand in 2019.

Following a six-week trial at Woolwich Crown Court, Anjem Choudary, 57, was found guilty of directing a terrorist organisation, membership of a proscribed organisation and encouraging support for a terrorist organisation on 23 July. 

Khaleed Hussein, 29, was also found guilty of membership of a proscribed organisation on the same date.
