Two brothers have been imprisoned for raping young girls in the 2000s.

Mark Evans, 36, and Robert Evans, 40, was found guilty of raping and abusing children during 2006 to 2008 at Sheffield Crown Court and have today (28 March 2025) been jailed for 14 years and 17 years imprisonment.

Two men have been convicted of sexual offences against two girls more than 20 years ago.

The two victims in this case were aged just 14 and 15 when the offending began, and both were living in the care system.

During the offending period, between September 1996 and December 1997, Paul Doyle, 64, ran a kissogram and an escort agency from a taxi base in Digbeth, Birmingham. Doyle was convicted of living on the earnings of one of the victims who began working for his agency when she was 14 or 15. Although she received a wage, the money she earned was given straight to Doyle.

A former scout leader who assaulted children as young as seven over almost three decades has been jailed. 

Ian Charles Silvester, 60, was found guilty of 79 offences following a trial at Lewes Crown Court on 20 November 2024. Today, he has been sentenced to 16 years imprisonment, with an additional six years on extended licence. 

Silvester, of Brighton, was prosecuted by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) following an investigation by Sussex Police. 

A criminology student at Liverpool University has been sentenced for the rape and sexual assault of two female students.

Ewan Blair, 20, of Crown Place, Liverpool, met both women in the autumn term of 2023 and both said he seemed friendly at first.
He met one of the women in a bar in Liverpool city centre and talked with her on several occasions as the evening went on. He seemed chatty and friendly.

Blair persuaded the woman to let him go with her to her accommodation. But, when there, he quickly became physically and verbally aggressive and she became scared.

A man has been jailed for sexually abusing a child more than 30 years ago.

Yusuf Kayat, 54, was found guilty of 17 offences relating to the sexual abuse of a child between 1989 and 1992 following a trial at Leeds Crown Court today (5 February 2025) and sentenced to 20 years imprisonment, with an additional year on extended licence.

The CPS prosecuted Kayat, from Batley, West Yorkshire, following an investigation by West Yorkshire Police.

The court heard the victim was in primary school, aged just 10, when she first met Kayat.

Robert Emmerson, 40, was sentenced today at Manchester Crown Court to four years and six months in prison. He was also made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order for life.
