Hossein Ali Najafi, 57, has today been sentenced to 29 months’ imprisonment at Manchester Crown Square after he falsely claimed £349,000 worth of benefits he was not entitled to.

A man who sexually abused a four-year-old child has been sentenced to 14 years’ imprisonment.

David Eyre, 55, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on 23 October 2023 after pleading guilty to multiple counts of sexual offences, including causing a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, taking, making, and possessing indecent images of children, and possessing extreme pornographic images.

We have sought a retrial on one count of attempted murder against Lucy Letby – there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.

“These decisions on whether to seek retrials on the remaining counts of attempted murder were extremely complex and difficult.

“Before reaching our conclusions we listened carefully to the views of the families affected, police and prosecution counsel. 

A teenage phone hacker who stole more than £66,000 from both individuals and companies has been sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment, suspended for a year. 

Over a two-year period, Connor Turner, 18, of Finborough Road in Walton, stole £66,551 by fraudulently gaining access to the phones and accounts of a woman and five companies.
