David Duckenfield, the police commander in charge of safety during the Hillsborough stadium disaster, has today been found not guilty of gross negligence manslaughter after a retrial at Preston Crown Court.

Her Majesty's Crown Prosecution Service Inspectorate has issued a report following its inspection of the performance of CPS Mersey-Cheshire.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) is responsible for prosecuting criminal cases, which are investigated by the Police in England and Wales. CPS Mersey-Cheshire is one of 14 CPS areas across England and Wales and covers the counties of Merseyside and Cheshire.
