Three men who committed child sex abuse offences against two young girls in Rotherham more than a decade ago have been convicted. 

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) prosecuted Romauld Houphouet, 37, Absolom Sigiyo, 41, and Jacek Brzozowski, 35, following an investigation by the National Crime Agency (NCA) as part of Operation Stovewood.

Operation Stovewood is a major investigation into child sexual abuse and exploitation which took place in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, between 1997 and 2013.

Robin Weyell, Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor said: “The CPS has reviewed a full file of evidence from the Merseyside Police and has authorised the investigation team to charge 12 people with 12 offences related to bribery and misconduct in public office.

Two brothers have been imprisoned for raping young girls in the 2000s.

Mark Evans, 36, and Robert Evans, 40, was found guilty of raping and abusing children during 2006 to 2008 at Sheffield Crown Court and have today (28 March 2025) been jailed for 14 years and 17 years imprisonment.

Two men have been jailed for committing sexual offences against two girls more than 25 years ago.

The two victims in this case were aged just 14 and 15 when the offending began, and both were living in the care system.

Six people who exploited Vietnamese workers who had been smuggled into the UK for forced labour on cannabis farms have been convicted (Monday 24 February).

Mai Van Nguyen, 35, Duong Dinh, 38, Nghĩa Dinh Tran, 30,  Shamraiz Akhtar, 54, Tasawar Hussain, 54, and Amjad Nawaz, 43, were found guilty of conspiracy to arrange or facilitate the travel of people with a view to forcing them to work in exploitative conditions on cannabis farms and of a conspiracy to produce cannabis between 1 June 2020 and 18 August 2022 at Birmingham Crown Court.
