Westminster magistrates today ordered the extradition to Italy of a British man suspected of murdering his partner there.

Michael Whitbread is wanted by the Italian government for prosecution on a charge of murdering his partner, British national Michele Faiers, who was found stabbed to death at their home near the Italian town of Casoli. It is alleged she was killed on 28 October 2023.

An ex-takeaway worker has been convicted (Wednesday 20 March 2024) of laundering the proceeds which saw her rise from living above a Chinese restaurant to residing in a multi-million pound house in an affluent part of North London.

Jian Wen, 42, was found guilty at Southwark Crown Court of an offence relating to money laundering.

Nick Price, Head of the CPS Special Crime and Counter Terrorism Division, said: “The CPS has authorised a charge of conspiracy to conduct espionage against a sixth person suspected of spying for Russia.

“Tihomir Ivanchev, 38, will be charged with conspiring to obtain, collect, record, publish or communicate documents or information which might be or was intended to be directly or indirectly useful for a purpose prejudicial to the safety and interest of the state.

A fourth person has been charged following a protest at the home of the Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on 3 August.

The CPS has authorised a single count of criminal damage against Michael Grant, 64, and he will appear at York Magistrates' Court on 21 March. 

Rosemary Ainslie, Head of the CPS Special Crime Division, said: “Following a review of the evidence provided by North Yorkshire Police, we have authorised criminal charges against one man and two women after a protest at the home of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on 3 August 2023.

“Mathieu Soete, 38, Amy Rugg-Easey, 33, and Alexandra Wilson, 32, will each be charged with a single count of criminal damage, and will appear at York Magistrates’ Court on 21 March.
