A former National Crime Agency (NCA) officer who used his work device to access, view and download indecent images of children, and child sexual abuse material, has today been jailed.

Adam Taylor, 40, was prosecuted by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) following an investigation by the NCA's Anti-Corruption Unit.

Taylor has been sentenced to 18 months imprisonment at Southwark Crown Court on Friday 2 August 2024 after previously pleading guilty to six charges, including misconduct in public office, making indecent images of children and possessing extreme pornography.

A leader behind an organised crime group (OCG), which trafficked heroin and cocaine into England and Scotland, has been jailed following his extradition from Portugal.

Stephen Earle, 52, was sentenced to 11 years and four months imprisonment at Liverpool Crown Court today (2 August 2024), after pleading guilty to being involved in a conspiracy to supply class A drugs.

In July 2020, the defendant travelled to Portugal and stayed there in an attempt to evade detection by the authorities.

A man who operated two websites that spread far-right propaganda and encouraged terrorism has been jailed.

Colin McNeil, 46, ran the online sites which featured racist documents, images and videos glorifying Hitler, the Nazis and prominent Neo-Nazis.

The websites also honoured men who committed racist mass killings, including Brenton Tarrant, who murdered 51 people in and around two mosques in Christchurch New Zealand in 2019.

FORMER BBC news presenter Huw Edwards has been sentenced for possessing indecent images of children today (Monday 16 September 2024).

Edwards, 63, was sentenced to a six-month jail sentence suspended for two years at Westminster Magistrates’ Court after pleading guilty to three charges of making indecent images of children.

A leader of a criminal gang which tried to smuggle millions of pounds worth of illegal drugs into the UK in a shipment of bananas has today been convicted.  

Sajid Ali, 56, from Birmingham, directed four men - Robert Ball, Mirgent Shahu, Arman Kaviani and Florjan Ibra - in a drug smuggling plot. Their plan was to move a shipping container, which had arrived from Ecuador with cocaine concealed inside the roof, from London Gateway Port to an industrial estate in Coventry where the drugs could be extracted and distributed by the criminals.

A man who fled the UK after being charged with indecently assaulting a 14-year-old girl has been jailed following his extradition from Bulgaria.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) prosecuted Shahid Hussain, 48, as part of Operation Stovewood, a major investigation into non-familial child sexual abuse and exploitation which took place in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, between 1997 and 2013.
