Two men who smuggled a vast quantity of cocaine into the United Kingdom in a high-stakes operation at sea have been jailed.

A former prison officer from South Wales has been jailed for six years after large amount of controlled drugs were found in her car.

Jodie Beer, age 30, of Llanharry, Rhondda Cynon Taff, was a prison officer in Parc Prison, Bridgend, when she was caught with the drugs in February 2022. 

During a break she returned to her vehicle in the carpark where she was stopped by police officers.

A leader of a criminal gang which tried to smuggle millions of pounds worth of illegal drugs into the UK in a shipment of bananas has today been convicted.  

Sajid Ali, 56, from Birmingham, directed four men - Robert Ball, Mirgent Shahu, Arman Kaviani and Florjan Ibra - in a drug smuggling plot. Their plan was to move a shipping container, which had arrived from Ecuador with cocaine concealed inside the roof, from London Gateway Port to an industrial estate in Coventry where the drugs could be extracted and distributed by the criminals.

A ringleader who organised the importation and supply of Class A drugs disguised in printer ink has today (24/04/2024) been found guilty at Isleworth Crown Court.

Jonathan Strogylos, 36, was one of a group of twelve men involved in a large-scale operation to supply cocaine.

Three men have today been jailed for their involvement in a drug enterprise which saw the large scale selling of drugs on the dark web and their onward transmission via post in disguised packaging.
