Director, Policy

Roger Daw (Director of Policy) heads the Policy Directorate at CPS Headquarters in London and York. The work of the Directorate is broadly divided into two main categories: Domestic and International. The organisational structure of the Directorate reflects these themes.

Domestic Division

The Division is responsible for engaging with Government departments and helping to take forward a range of initiatives that will impact upon CPS. It also considers how the CPS may best influence the wider CJS agenda, for example, crime reduction initiatives and new offences. It also provides advice and guidance to prosecutors on the full range of front-line prosecution work ensuring that the formal legal guidance systems are fully up to date.

International Division

In developing and delivering Policy advice and producing guidance on a range of portfolios, the Division is responsible for maintaining effective relations with colleagues in other Government departments, overseas jurisdictions and International Institutions in order to support the role of the CPS in both its front-line prosecution work and, more generally, on the global stage. The Division also organises all inward visits to the CPS from overseas and manages CPS engagement in capacity building projects in pursuit of strategic Government Priorities.

An overarching and key area of the Directorate's work is to provide advice to the DPP, CE and Law Officers in relation to legal policy development for the Service.
